Yang was born in 1963 in Jilin province, northeast China. He was graduated from the Art Department of Hebei Teaching University in 1989. Yang continued his study and research at the National Art Academy and was graduated in 1992.
Currently, Yang is professor at the Art College of Guangdong Light Industry Institute. He is specialized in oil painting and very often, Yang used to said, “My paintings are my observations and my observations have a lot to do with my background. This is an intimate relationship between me and the nature.”
Yang had his first solo exhibition in 1990 which was held at the art gallery of the China National Art Academy. In 1991, Yang clinched a Silver Medal at the first Canadian International Art Maple Award. It was in 1994, Yang’s works of art were being chosen by the China National Art Academy to participate in a series of road shows in Southeast Asia countries including Malaysia and Australia.
Apart from painting, Yang is also actively involved in art publishing.
